Top 5 Affiliate Marketing FAQ Beginners Need To Know!

There are tons of affiliate marketing FAQ beginners always want to know. In this post I’ll provide answers to what I think are the 5 most important of the bunch.

1: When will I earn money?

There’s no clear answer here, but I usually say you should be prepared to go 3-6 months before you start seeing income.

During your first few months, that income will trickle in somewhat sporadically, so that 3-6 month window is when you’ll start to have more consistent revenue.

2: How much money will I earn?

Totally depends. On you. On your niche. A better question might be: how much do you want to earn?

You can make enough for a decent side income by working a few hours a week in your spare time, or you can turn your business into a six figure career if you commit to full time work. It’s up to you.

3: How much does it cost to start?

While you can start for free, a good budget to have for your first year of affiliate marketing is usually a few hundred dollars.

With that, you’re going to be able to purchase a domain and hosting plan (an absolute necessity for any web business) which run around $60-70 per year for a basic package.

You’re also probably going to want to invest in a good course. Some of the top ones, like Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama, have free and lost cost trial offers, but to be really successful you’ll probably want to upgrade at some point. That’ll set you back around $50 per month, or $300ish for a yearly discount.

Finally, it’s a good idea to invest in a keyword tool. While you can find all of the information you need for free using Google’s toolkit, many of the top keyword research tools make the process so much easier, it’s well worth a few extra dollars a month. Be prepared for something in the $15-30/month price range.

The good news is that after a few months, your website will be earning enough to cover all these costs, so your up front, out of pocket amount stays pretty low.

4: Is affiliate marketing too good to be true?

Absolutely not. Affiliate sites represent an industry that has over four billion in annual revenues, and growing every year.

There are tons of success stories out there of individuals just like you who have built profitable sites from scratch.

5: Where/How do I start?

Your best bet is to choose a good beginner course to make sure you cover all of your bases.

I recommend you start for free first, to see if you like it, but within a week or two you need to decide if you’re going to commit to building a real site.

If you dally along to “wait and see” you’ll be setting yourself up for failure. You need to have the confidence that if you keep working for 6 months, you will see results.
